<p>Prince William and Kate Middleton are said to be &#8220;very close&#8221; to choosing a venue for their wedding but a date for the big day has yet to be decided.</p>
<p>The Prince and his bride-to-be are considering plans for their marriage ceremony as they continue to organise their nuptials.</p>
<p>Miss Middleton, 28, was photographed this week leaving Westminster Abbey after a private tour and it is now the favourite venue to stage the event.</p>
<p>The couple are thought to favour some time in March for the exchange of vows but could opt for a summer month like July when the weather is more dependable.</p>
<p>William, 28, and Miss Middleton gave aides a list of their plans on Wednesday and officials have spent the intervening time consulting with senior royals, the Government and other interested parties before reporting back to the couple.</p>
<p>But, with many factors needing to be taken into consideration for the date of the ceremony, more discussions with various groups are required. The couple are also trying to fit their planning around William&#8217;s job as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot and are not rushing their decisions.</p>
<p>Any discussions between the pair will be by telephone as William is flying in North Wales and Miss Middleton is at her family home in Berkshire.</p>
<p>David Cameron gave them a boost on Thursday when he suggested there should be a &#8220;national day of celebration&#8221; to honour their marriage. The couple gave their support to the Prime Minister&#8217;s idea of an extra bank holiday to allow the country to mark their wedding day.</p>
<p>Mr Cameron described the prospect of an extra bank holiday as a &#8220;very good idea&#8221; if the ceremony was held on a weekday &#8211; but still a &#8220;great temptation&#8221; if it took place during a weekend.</p>
<p>A St James&#8217;s Palace spokesman said: &#8220;Prince William and Catherine Middleton are grateful for the Prime Minister&#8217;s comments. They also support the idea of a bank holiday but recognise this is very much a matter for the Government.&#8221;</p>
