<p>Scotland has welcomed the first babies of 2011 at hospitals around the country.</p>
<p>One of the earliest arrivals was a boy who entered the world at 30 seconds past midnight.</p>
<p>Parents Jennifer Britton and Scott Morton welcomed the 7lb 13oz (3.540kg) youngster at Wishaw General Hospital in South Lanarkshire.</p>
<p>The earliest arrival in Glasgow was baby Amber Jane Moss, who arrived at 11 minutes past midnight at the Princess Royal Maternity hospital, weighing 6lb 5oz (2.85kg). She was the first baby for parents Fiona and Darren Moss from Cambuslang.</p>
<p>Mrs Moss said: &#8220;It was a bit of a shock as she wasn&#8217;t due till the 19th so she arrived really early. I only finished work yesterday so it has all happened quite fast.&#8221;</p>
<p>At 12.18am a 7lb 5oz girl arrived at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness to the delight of parents Claire Sanderson and Danny Cragg.</p>
<p>Parents Julie and Steven Innes welcomed an 8lb 10oz boy at the same hospital at 12.37am.</p>
<p>Wishaw General Hospital enjoyed a new year baby boom with two other boys arriving in the early hours. Pamela Kerr and Allan Yule welcomed a 4lb 10oz (2.110kg) son at 1.49am.</p>
<p>At 2.41am a son was born to Fiona and Scott Allan, weighing 7lb 11oz (3.480kg). Marte MacBrayne, from Lochgilphead, Argyll, and her partner Lorne welcomed their baby girl at Paisley&#8217;s Royal Alexandra Hospital at 2.31am. The 7lb 14oz (3.57kg)infant, her first baby, has been named Elin.</p>
<p>The earliest arrival in the capital was a boy born to Edinburgh parents Pauline and Brian Bell at 4.16am, weighing 6lb 12oz (3.05kg). He arrived at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.</p>
