30&comma; from Irvine&comma; Ayrshire&comma; died in the sinking which happened as the boat sank in Vietnam&&num;8217&semi;s famed tourist spot Ha Long Bay&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Italian tourist Stefano Corda said he felt an ominous tilt as dinner was served&comma; but his tour boat crew assured him everything was fine&period; A few hours later&comma; Mr Corda and his friend leapt off the boat as water raced inside&comma; sucking it down&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Vietnamese crews worked to try to hoist the sunken vessel out of the water&comma; a day after Mr McCormick and other holidaymakers from the US&comma; Australia&comma; Japan&comma; Russia&comma; France&comma; Sweden and Switzerland died along with their Vietnamese guide in the country&&num;8217&semi;s deadliest tour boat accident since the country opened up to foreign visitors 25 years ago&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>All were sleeping on the overnight ship&comma; named Bien Mo &&num;8211&semi; Dream Of The Ocean &&num;8211&semi; which was anchored in about 30ft of water near a small island&period; Nine foreigners and six Vietnamese survived only by flinging themselves overboard and swimming to other tour boats anchored nearby&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;We woke up at five and the boat took one minute to sink&comma;&&num;8221&semi; Mr Corda&comma; 35&comma; of Palermo&comma; said&period; &&num;8220&semi;We went to the exit and the boat was almost vertical&period; I grabbed my friend&comma; we went out&comma; and it was so fast&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Ha Long Bay is one of the country&&num;8217&semi;s top tourist attractions&comma; drawing more than five million visitors a year to the province where 1&comma;600 stunning jagged rock formations rise out of the bay&comma; forming tiny islands&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Many visitors stay overnight on wooden boats equipped with sleeping cabins and eating quarters&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Police are investigating what caused the accident and a Vietnamese official called for safety checks on the more than 100 tour boats that ply the bay&period; The boat captain and crew were summoned for questioning&comma; said Le Thanh Binh&comma; a Quang Ninh police spokesman&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The official Vietnam News Agency published the victims&&num;8217&semi; names and ages&comma; most of them aged 20 to 25&comma; seven of them women&period; They included Mr McCormick&comma; two Americans&comma; one Japanese&comma; one French&comma; two Swedes&comma; two Russians&comma;
