<p>Denzel Washington put his youngest daughter through her paces when she told him that she wanted to follow in his footsteps by becoming an actress.</p>
<p>The double-Oscar winner, who has four grown-up children, said he planned to tell his daughter if she wasn&#8217;t up to scratch.</p>
<p>Denzel, 55, said: &#8220;My youngest daughter wants to be an actress. But she&#8217;s actually very good. When she was auditioning for different acting colleges, I told her, &#8216;I want to see your audition pieces&#8217;.</p>
<p>&#8220;She fell on the floor and got all dramatic. I said, &#8216;Look, I&#8217;m going to be honest with you, it&#8217;s too tough a business. If you aren&#8217;t good, I&#8217;m going to let you know&#8217;.</p>
<p>&#8220;Unfortunately for me, she was excellent. I was like, &#8216;Oh shoot!&#8217; So she&#8217;s acting away and she loves it.&#8221;</p>
<p>Denzel is about to star as a widowed train engineer, who attempts to stop a runaway train on the very day he finds out he&#8217;s being forced to take early retirement to make way for younger, cheaper engineers, in Unstoppable.</p>
<p>The upside of his daughter following him into Hollywood is that it&#8217;s recession-proof.</p>
<p>&#8220;Back during the depression, musicals and comedies were the big thing because people wanted to laugh. I&#8217;m fortunately in the right business &#8211; and it&#8217;s one business where you don&#8217;t have to retire &#8211; you can work until you expire,&#8221; he said.</p>
