<p>Prince Harry has been presented with a prestigious German award in recognition of his charity work and immediately declared himself unworthy of the honour.</p>
<p>The royal said he felt &#8220;hugely humble&#8221; receiving the &#8216;Golden Heart&#8217; during a televised fundraising gala in Berlin &#8211; Ein Herz fur Kinder (A Heart for Children).</p>
<p>But he explained that compared to others who dedicate their lives helping vulnerable youngsters &#8220;I have done very little&#8221;, and accepted the trophy on their behalf.</p>
<p>Harry was following in the footsteps of past recipients of the award &#8211; Hollywood actresses Salma Hayek, the 2009 winner, and in recent years Jane Fonda and Sharon Stone.</p>
<p>The prince arrived in a snowy Berlin which like London has been hit by the arctic conditions that have crippled transport in the UK.</p>
<p>Among the guests were singers Kylie Minogue and Paul Anka.</p>
<p>After receiving the award from Bettina Wulff, the wife of German President Christian Wulff, Harry told the gathered guests and the televised audience of millions &#8220;from the bottom of my heart Vielen Dank (thank you very much).&#8221;</p>
<p>He added: &#8220;But compared to so many people who devote their whole lives to restoring hope to children around the world, I have done very little.</p>
<p>&#8220;So, as far as I&#8217;m concerned, I am receiving your award on their behalf, not mine.&#8221;</p>
<p>The prince is patron of a number of children&#8217;s and humanitarian charities &#8211; the most prominent is Sentebale, an organisation he co-founded in 2006 to help disadvantaged youngsters and others orphaned by HIV/Aids in the African country of Lesotho.</p>
