<p>A man suspected of smuggling weapons from Iran to the Taliban in Afghanistan is being held by Nato, the alliance said.</p>
<p>But it said he was not a member of Iran&#8217;s powerful Revolutionary Guard, contrary to news reports.</p>
<p>The reports had said he was a member of a Revolutionary Guard unit responsible for operations outside the country.</p>
<p>Nato said initial intelligence reports led it to believe that the individual &#8211; believed to be involved in the movement of weapons between Iran and the southern Afghan province of Kandahar &#8211; was a member of the Guard&#8217;s Quds Force.</p>
<p>Further investigation revealed he was not linked to the unit.</p>
<p>Iran has been accused of aiding the Taliban and other insurgents in Afghanistan through funding and weapons.</p>
