<p>Johnny Depp spent Valentine&#8217;s Day at the premiere of his latest film Rango.</p>
<p>The star, who voices a chameleon in the computer-animated comedy, said he was inspired to join the cast because of his love of reptiles.</p>
<p>&#8220;I like lizards&#8221; he revealed at the Los Angeles premiere.</p>
<p>Extra security had to be drafted in to stop barriers from being pushed over as hundreds of fans tried to get autographs and photos of the superstar.</p>
<p>In the film, Johnny plays a chameleon (called Rango) who aspires to be a swashbuckling hero and ends up playing the role in order to protect a town that&#8217;s being plagued by bandits.</p>
<p>In keeping with the film&#8217;s Western story, Johnny had a hint of the cowboy in his look at the premiere. He casually walked the red carpet in a brown leather jacket and jeans with his scruffy dark curls tucked underneath a hat.</p>
<p>The film is helmed by Pirates Of The Caribbean director Gore Verbinski and also stars Isla Fisher.</p>
