and would bring worldwide condemnation&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Hague told Saif Gaddafi that the Libyan authorities should embark on dialogue with protesters and implement reforms to the north African state&&num;8217&semi;s autocratic political system&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The phone conversation came amid continuing reports of violent attacks by Libyan special forces and foreign mercenaries on unarmed protesters in several cities&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Unconfirmed reports from medical officials in Libya&&num;8217&semi;s second city Benghazi suggest that at least 200 people have been killed in a bloody crackdown on demonstrations&comma; with one Dubai-based opposition activist putting the figure as high as 300&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Pro-Gaddafi forces fired machine-guns at mourners marching in a funeral for demonstrators killed in earlier clashes&comma; with one Benghazi hospital reporting at least 15 further fatalities&period; Over the past four days&comma; demonstrators have been attacked by sniper fire&comma; automatic weapons and even heavy artillery&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Hague denounced the Libyan authorities&&num;8217&semi; use of force as &&num;8220&semi;dreadful and horrifying&&num;8221&semi; and said that the world &&num;8220&semi;should not hesitate to condemn&&num;8221&semi; it&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>On Monday&comma; he will urge fellow foreign ministers at an EU summit in Brussels to join Britain in expressing concern&period; And he called on leaders of Arab countries to raise their own protests at events in Libya&comma; which has seen the most brutal official response to the wave of unrest sweeping across north Africa and the Middle East&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Following the phone call with Saif Gaddafi &&num;8211&semi; the head of the Gaddafi Human Rights Society &&num;8211&semi; a Foreign Office spokesman said&colon; &&num;8220&semi;The Foreign Secretary made clear the UK&&num;8217&semi;s grave concern at the escalation in violence&period;
