<p>Tom Hooper has won the Best Director Oscar at the 83rd Academy Awards.</p>
<p>The King&#8217;s Speech filmmaker described it as an &#8220;extraordinary honour&#8221;. He also paid tribute to the film&#8217;s leading actors and &#8220;the triangle of man love that is Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and me. I&#8217;m only here because of you guys&#8221;.</p>
<p>Writer David Seidler also picked up the award for best original screenplay for the film about the British monarchy. </p>
<p>Veteran actor Kirk Douglas came on stage to a standing ovation to present the Best Supporting Actress Oscar to Melissa Leo for The Fighter.</p>
<p>The Best Supporting Actor award went to Christian Bale for The Fighter. Welsh-born Bale said: &#8220;B****y hell. What a room full of talented, inspirational people and what am I doing in the midst of you?&#8221;</p>
<p>Tom Hanks presented the first award of the night, for Art Direction, to the team behind Alice In Wonderland. Sci-fi thriller Inception picked up the Cinematography award.</p>
<p>Best Animated Feature and Best Animated Short Film awards went to Toy Story 3 and The Lost Thing respectively.</p>
<p>West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin picked up the Best Adapted Screenplay award for his work on the Facebook film The Social Network. The Best Foreign Language Film Oscar went to the Danish film In A Better World.</p>
<p>Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won the Best Original Score Oscar for The Social Network. The Oscar for Makeup went to The Wolfman, while the Costume Design award went to previous two-time winner Colleen Atwood for Alice In Wonderland.</p>
<p>The Best Live Action Short Film Oscar was won by God of Love. Oprah Winfrey presented the Best Documentary award to Inside Job. The Best Visual Effects award went to Inception and the Film Editing Oscar to The Social Network.</p>
