<p>England&#8217;s bid to host the 2018 World Cup has gained widespread celebrity support.</p>
<p>Stars from the music industry have backed the bid, including ex-Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher, Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno and X Factor judge Simon Cowell.</p>
<p>Actors Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Rupert Grint have also added their backing as the Fifa executive committee vote approaches.</p>
<p>Gallagher said: &#8220;The buzz the nation would create if we were to host the World Cup in 2018 would be incredible.&#8221;</p>
<p>Cowell said a successful bid would &#8220;unite the whole country&#8221;, while Pizzorno believes a World Cup in England &#8220;would create a huge wave of passion&#8221;.</p>
<p>According to Fry, the enthusiasm for football is a key reason why the competition should be held in England.</p>
<p>&#8220;No other country in the world can match our infatuation for the game and this is the reason I believe England would be an ideal host for the 2018 World Cup,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Sheen said England would &#8220;produce the most memorable of tournaments&#8221;, while Harry Potter star Grint urged &#8220;the entire nation to back the bid&#8221;.</p>
