Nine demonstrators were killed in separate clashes in three northern Iraqi cities during what was described as a “Day of Rage”.

In the western Anbar province two died as security forces and demonstrators battled.

Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets to vent their anger at government corruption, a lack of services and unemployment in the largest outpouring of anger since the protests began sweeping the Middle East.
