Americans debate gun laws after Louisiana cinema shooting

Must read

Two people were killed and at least seven injured as a gunman opened fire at a cinema before shooting and killing himself.

It follows last week’s mass shooting in which five military servicemen were killed by a lone gunman at an army recruiting centre in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and comes after nine black churchgoers, including a state senator, were shot dead by a white gunman in a racially motivated attack earlier this summer in Charleston, South Carolina.

Social media users across America and the world took to Twitter to express their grief, support and disappointment following the latest tragedy in the US.
For many, the response was one of anguish and weariness at what is being called yet another act of “domestic terrorism”.
