Atlanta college on lockdown after shooting

Must read

An Atlanta-area college is on lockdown after a woman was found shot dead in an apartment nearby.

Police in Lawrenceville are looking for her husband.

Georgia Gwinnett College sent alerts saying campus was locked down. Lawrenceville police Captain Jeff Smith says police are still looking for the man they suspect of shooting his wife, who was found dead earlier today.

Capt Smith said police consider the man “armed and dangerous,” but they don’t know for sure whether he’s on campus.

The college’s alerts said “a violent crime has occurred close to the campus”.

The alerts indicate that police were closing the campus, and staff and students are to take shelter.

The college is in Lawrenceville, north east of Atlanta. Its website says it has nearly 11,000 students.
