A newborn girl with her umbilical cord still attached has plunged from the window of a New York City apartment building.
Police are questioning the girl’s mother after responding to an emergency services caller who reported that an infant had fallen out of a window at the seven-floor building in the Bronx.
The baby was pronounced dead by first responders in the building’s rear concrete courtyard.
Police say the baby showed signs of trauma.
No arrests have been made.
A secretary for the building’s landlord said 50 people live there.
