An engine on a British Airways jet has caught fire while the plane was preparing to take off from Las Vegas, forcing passengers to escape on emergency slides.
US Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the plane’s left engine caught fire.
A plume of black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky, but firefighters quickly doused the Boeing 777-200 with fire retardant.
McCarran International Airport spokesman Chris Jones said the 159 passengers and 13 crew members on the British Airways flight, which was bound for Gatwick, had gotten off the plane.
The airport reported on its official Twitter account that two passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Clark County Fire Department said the fire was not the result of a crash.
