Sir Elton John will perform the induction honours when his long-time idol Leon Russell is ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month.
The pair are already up for a Grammy award together for their work on last year’s joint album The Union.
Sir Elton won’t be the only Rock and Roll Hall of Famer honouring the 2011 class on March 14. Paul Simon will induct Neil Diamond, and Neil Young will induct Tom Waits.
Heavy metal star Rob Zombie will induct Alice Cooper, John Legend will induct Dr. John, and Bette Midler will pay tribute to singer Darlene Love.
The induction ceremony will be held in New York and will be aired in the US on March 20.
