A man has been convicted of negligent manslaughter after his son used his gun to kill 15 people

A German man has been convicted of negligent manslaughter for failing to properly secure a gun that his teenage son used to kill 15 people.

The Stuttgart state court gave Jorg Kretschmer a 21-month suspended prison sentence for not securing his 9mm Beretta pistol, says news agency DAPD.

His 17-year-old son Tim used it to kill nine students and three teachers at his former high school, and three people elsewhere, in March 2009.

The teenager then killed himself with the weapon during an exchange of gunfire with police.
