James Franco admits he’s become very picky about the films he makes.
“I’ve come to a point where I want to do movies that I believe in,” the actor explained.
“I have come to an understanding of filmmaking, a new understanding where I believe it’s a directors medium, that means working with people that I believe in,” he said.
James’ latest project has been working with Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle on 127 Hours. The film is based on the real-life story of what happened to Aron Ralston who, after being trapped under a boulder in an isolated canyon, cut off his arm to save his life.
“Danny is a person who, if you look at his past films, he’s constantly changing and constantly challenging himself as a way of finding new approaches to filmmaking,” he said.
James went on: “When I read the script obviously its hard not to see that it’s a very unusually structured movie that would require unusual filmmaking techniques, so I thought who better to make this movie with than Danny?”
“He did make a movie that’s very different than anything he’s made before and it was great to be a part of it,” James added.
:: 127 hours is released in cinemas on Friday, January 7.
