Gwen Stefani opened up about her painful split from her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale, but said she is now in a “new place”.
The Voice US judge told Carson Daly’s 97.1 AMP radio show that although her life “blew up in my face”, she’s managed to move on to a place she feels “inspired”.
“My life is so extreme right now. My life basically blew up in my face,” she said.
“And now I’m in this new life, and it’s pretty awesome I have to say – I’m so inspired and being back on the show, and just being in a new place. Everything just feels new. I just feel inspired. I don’t know how else to describe it,” the mother-of-three added.
Following the split, the No Doubt frontwoman admitted she struggled to return to the studio to record her new single, Used To Love.
She said: “On the way into the studio the first time, I didn’t want to go. I wanted to be in my bed, like, crying.”
“And I did, I cried all the way down to Santa Monica, driving to Santa Monica, and I was like, ‘What am I doing? Why am I doing this?”
She said that the process of writing new music had been therapeutic, revealing that within eight weeks she’d written 19 new songs.
“I just want the truth to come out. I just want to be honest and real and I just want to do stuff that represents where I’m at right now,” she said of the new tracks.
Gwen’s interview did little to dispel rumours of a relationship with fellow The Voice judge Blake Shelton, who split from his wife Miranda Lambert just months before Gwen and Gavin.
She told Carson that she had attended George Clooney’s Casamigos Halloween bash with the country singer and her other co-star Adam Levine.
Entertainment Tonight reports that Gwen and Blake were photographed leaving the party together and spotted holding hands inside, although Gwen wouldn’t be drawn on commenting on the rumours.
Of the party, she said: “I was literally that party girl that you hear about when their life blows up, and you’re like, ‘Yeah! I’m going out! Like, watch me!’”
“We’re just trying to have fun. You know?” she added.
