Harrison Ford has claimed men are just as much victims of ageism in Hollywood as women.
The Indiana Jones star – who plays a former top news reporter forced to host a breakfast TV show in comedy Morning Glory – insists the good roles dry up for men as they get older.
Speaking before the UK premiere of his new film, Harrison said: “Much as I understand the notion that there are no good parts for older women I want to make it abundantly clear that there are no good parts for old men either.”
The 68-year-old Star Wars actor plays veteran TV journalist Mike Pomeroy in the film, who hates being a presenter on breakfast TV.
Asked whether his character is a victim of ageism, he said: “Aren’t we all? He’s a victim of nature. He’s getting old, a kind of dinosaur.”
:: Morning Glory, co-starring Rachel McAdams and Patrick Wilson, is released on Friday, January 21.
