Inquiries continue after fatal crash at Costa coffee shop

UK Police are continuing to carry out inquiries into a crash at a Costa coffee shop on Christmas Eve which killed one woman and left four others seriously injured.

Kent Police said no arrests have been made following the collision, which fatally injured a 74-year-old woman from the Rye area of East Sussex.

The incident happened just before 10.30am in Westerham, near Sevenoaks in Kent, when an Audi became embedded in the front of the cafe.

The deceased victim, who has not been formally identified, died at the scene.

Two men and two women were taken to hospitals in London and Farnborough.

Another woman was taken to Pembury Hospital with minor injuries.

One witness described the carnage “as if a bomb had gone off”.
