Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi dies in helicopter crash

It has been confirmed that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has been found dead.

Raisi died in an helicopter crash in north western Iran on Sunday along Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirbadolhian and other officials.

President Ibrahim Raisi was the protege of Ayatollah Khomeni. the country’s supreme leade a Shiite cleric who has final say on all state matters and serves as the country’s commander-in-chief.

Mr Raisi was born in Mashhad on December 14th, 1960, into a family that traces its lineage to Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, marked by the black turban he would later wear. Hails from a religious family, he lost his father at the age of 5.

He attended the seminary in the Shiite holy city of Qom and later became a high ranking a high-ranking Shiite cleric. that describes himself as an ayatollah.

Mr Raisi, who earlier lost a presidential election to the relatively moderate incumbent Hassan Rouhani in 2017, ended up coming to power as President of Iran four years later.

His presidency oversaw an unprecedented degree of positive relations, cooperation and coordination with Russia, and China.
