A man known as Spider Dan has been convicted of two misdemeanours stemming from his Labour Day ascent of San Francisco’s 60-story Millennium Tower.

City District Attorney George Gascon announced that a jury found 55-year-old Daniel Goodwin guilty of public nuisance and obstructing arrest.

The judge dismissed an additional charge of trespassing.

Goodwin spent about four hours on September 6 scaling the residential high-rise, aided by suction cups. He ignored authorities’ repeated commands to come down.

Goodwin testified that he wanted to call attention to what he sees as a national lack of preparedness to fight skyscraper fires.

He is scheduled for sentencing on February 1. He could face a year in county jail and various fines.
