North-East States in the US hit by snow and freezing rain

Must read

A storm has brought snow, sleet and freezing rain to the north-east United States.

Parts of northern New England got up to 6 inches of snow, while central New York got up to 4 inches of snow and northern New York had as much as 7 inches.

Meteorologists said the storm is linked to the same system that produced deadly tornadoes in the Midwest on Saturday, then brought heavy snow, ice, rain, flooding and winds as it moved towards the Great Lakes.

Floods in the US state of Missouri have forced hundreds of people out of their homes after four days of storms sent rivers to record levels.

At least 13 people have been killed and hundreds of roads closed.

More than 40 people across the US have died of weather-related causes over the past week, following torrential rain, tornadoes and blizzards.
