Austria is just bringing in temporary controls along its border with Hungary to stop the flow of migrants into western Europe.
More than 170 people have been arrested in the 24 hours since Hungary put up a giant razor-wire fence along its Serbian border.
US President Obama, who’s been meeting with the King of Spain, says European countries and the US need to co-operate to deal with the migration crisis: “We have discussed how we can complete and strengthen that co-operation.
“I discussed the fact that the United States feels it is important for us to also take our share of Syrian refugees, as part of this overall humanitarian effort.”
