Paul Rudd for Knocked Up spin-off

Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann are to reprise their bickering husband and wife characters from Knocked Up in a new spin-off movie.

The as-yet untitled comedy will be directed by Knocked Up’s Judd Apatow and is due out in June 2012, Variety reports.

Knocked Up starred Katherine Heigl and Seth Rogen as a couple thrown together after Katherine’s character accidentally became pregnant following a one night stand.

Leslie played her bossy sister Debbie and Paul was Debbie’s husband, who was sent to give Seth’s wayward character some guidance ahead of becoming a father – only to be lead astray himself.

This is not the first time director Judd has made a spin-off starring his supporting characters.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall saw Russell Brand supporting as Sarah’s new rock star boyfriend Aldous Snow, which spawned his lead role in spin-off Get Him To The Greek.
