President Hollande promises emergency funding for victims of flooding

Must read

The French President has promised emergency funding to support victims of severe flooding in the south of the country. It is feared up to 20 people lost their lives in a three hour long deluge last night.

Some have raised concerns over the growing population in the French Riviera, citing increased urbanisation for the cause in flooding.

Global Radio News reporter Catherine Field says a massive clean up operation will begin in the coming days: “So far the French President François Hollande has visited the region he has also said that there will be an enormous amount of funding going into the region in the first instance, to help the people who need the help most, and that is something like 27 thousand homes in the region are still without electricity.”
