Denise Richards says she is “learning” to deal with the headlines about her ex-husband Charlie Sheen.
Charlie’s messy personal life has included a wild night that left a New York hotel room in tatters and sent the actor, 45, to hospital, and a guilty plea last summer to assaulting his wife.
Denise told Access Hollywood: “I think a lot of people are concerned about Charlie… I’m learning how to deal with it and just keeping a lid on it for our kids has been my main priority … it does become difficult.”
She said the last two years had been a much “better place” for the ex-couple and that they had intended “to have a nice time” with their daughters in New York “even though we’re not together any more”.
But referring to the New York hotel room headlines, Denise, 39, who was staying in a separate room, told an interview for Access Hollywood and The Billy Bush Show: “The events that took place after that, you know, it was … difficult.”
Last week, a top TV executive admitted that Charlie’s off-camera behaviour was a cause for concern.
CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler said the network was standing by the actor as the reliable star of a hit sitcom, Two And A Half Men.
