Security forces have reportedly disappeared from the streets of Yemen’s second largest city after 10 days of constant protests, threatening to plunge Aden into chaos.

Residents of the port city said groups of men are attacking, looting and burning government buildings and there is no sign of police or armed forces.

In the capital Sanaa, hundreds of Yemenis began demonstrating early on Saturday morning outside the university, demanding the ousting of the country’s long-standing ruler as they marched towards the Justice Ministry.

“The people want the ousting of the regime,” they chanted.

Over the past nine days of protests, six people have been killed and more than 150 wounded as police fire tear gas and gunshots.
