Spain’s government has said the country’s airspace has now reopened after a closure prompted by striking air traffic controllers.
An official with the civil aviation agency Aena said it got the all-clear from Eurocontrol, Europe’s air traffic agency.
The official said strikers who launched the stoppage on Friday afternoon are returning to work in sufficient numbers to make it safe to fly in Spanish airspace.
The return comes after the government placed the strikers under military authority and threatened them with jail terms under military law.
