Police are responding to a shooting at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Campus media relations officer Rebecca Kendall said there are two victims but their conditions are unknown.
Ms Kendall said it is not known if the situation remains active.
The campus is on lockdown.
Numerous university and Los Angeles city police officers have responded, moving about the 419-acre campus with weapons drawn.
The school on the west side of Los Angeles is a flagship of the University of California system, with about 43,000 students.
It is currently the week before final exams.
