WhatsApp is to start sharing user data with Facebook.
The messaging service was bought by Facebook for €17bn in 2014.
Now the latest update to WhatsApp’s terms of use will see the company share data – including phone numbers – with the social media giant.
WhatsApp say their end-to-end encryption of messages will mean user privacy is maintained.
