WHO announces the adoption of European style Covid-19 vaccine passport as part of a new global digital health certificate.
Making this announcement on Monday, WHO President, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus says his glad to launch the Global Digital Health Certification Network with EU Commissioner Stella Kyriakides.
He says ‘ This work will strengthen health systems and help Member States better prepare for future epidemics and pandemic’.
The European Union launched the Covid vaccine passport during the pandemic on the 1 July 2021 for all 27 Members States and this is set to expire on the 30 June 2023.
Although the vaccine passports are no longer required to travel in and out of EU as all the countries have cancelled all restrictions.
