A woman has survived a 40-mile ride clinging to the bonnet of a minivan driven by her husband after a row, California police said.
Manteca authorities told KOVR-TV that 36-year-old Christopher Michael Carroll is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.
Police says he drove off in the family’s minivan with his wife clinging to the windscreen wiper and side mirror after she attempted to stop him from leaving.
Police spokesman Rex Osborn said she jumped on the bonnet, “and that’s when her adventure started”.
Authorities say Carroll sped through Manteca, got onto the motorway and did not pull over until he reached Pleasanton, more than 40 miles away.
The woman, whose name was not released, suffered hypothermia.
