More than 200 people have been arrested at Climate Change protests in Paris described as ‘scandalous’ by President Hollande.
He has blamed far left activists for hijacking the demonstrations this afternoon.
Protesters at Place de la Republique pelted officers with bottles and candles that had been left in tribute to the victims of the recent terror attacks.
Globally around half a million people have taken part protests ahead of tomorrow’s huge climate change summit in the French capital.
At home marches took place in Cork, Galway and Belfast.
This man at the Dublin protest told us why he was there.
“One of the key worries is that after the Paris conference the political will but also the public concern that we see here in the streets will dissapate, so I think it’s very important that the issue is kept on the political agenda.”
