A humble pie is competing with champagne, chocolates and red roses this Valentine’s Day following the creation of an “aphrodisiac” version for would-be suitors.
The Aphro-piety blends chicken thigh, perry cider and asparagus in a lemon-infused cream sauce topped with smoked oysters and decorated with a gold heart lid and a sprinkling of saffron.
Accrington-based Holland’s Pies, which developed the pie with celebrity chef Tom Bolton, said all the ingredients had been carefully selected for their chemical compounds and vitamins to suit the occasion.
The company will give away a limited number of the pies at fish and chip shops across the North West on Valentine’s Day.
Mr Bridge, the author of Pie Society and a “pie development chef”, said: “Holland’s is loved by people across the North West, so this Valentine’s Day we wanted to show our fans some love in return.”
