But before you grab that bag of chips at the store or fish & chip at your local take-away, consider making some of your own! Now we have easy access at all times to chips of all kinds, making it less healthy or tasty. Eat all the junk food you want as long as you cook it yourself. Done and done! 
We have got two super easy and yummy-licious recipes to be cooked, eaten and make your day. So revel with your family and friends and be the cooking star of the day!

Chips & Dip

Ingredients:

  1. 1 large ripe avocado, finely chopped
  2. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  3. 2 green chillies, minced
  4. Salt to taste

  5. Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  6. 2 large tomatoes, finely chopped
  7. 3-4 sprigs fresh parsley, finely chopped
  8. 1 cup sour cream
  9. 2 large potatoes, peeled, cut into wedges and soaked in salted water
  10. Oil for deep frying
  11. 1 cup flavored potato crisps
  12. 1 cup banana chips
  13. 1 cup tortilla chips

Method:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine avocado, with onion and green chillies, mash with a fork and set aside. Season with salt and pepper, refrigerate to chill.
  2. In another small mixing bowl, combine the tomatoes with garlic and parsley and set aside.
  3. Season with salt and pepper and refrigerate to chill.
  4. Also combine the sour cream, salt and pepper and mix well. Remove into a serving bowl, cover and refrigerate to chill.
  5. Drain the potatoes properly and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  6. Heat oil in a wok over medium – high flame. Add the potatoes wedges and deep fry till golden, crisp on the surface and cook through. Remove from wok and drain on absorbent kitchen paper.
  7. In a serving bowl or basket, combine the potato wedges with potato crisps, banana chips and tortilla chips. Serve with chilled chips.

Fish and Chips

Ingredients:

  1. Refined oil for frying
  2. One white fish fillet
  3. 3 table spoon tempura flour, plus extra for dusting
  4. Handfull French fries
  5. One teaspoon baking powder
  6. 1 table spoon lemon juice
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Black pepper to taste

Preparation: 10 mins
Servings: 02 portions
Cooking time: 5 mins

Method:

  1. Pour the refined oil into deep fat fryer and heat to 180 degree celsius.
  2. Dust the fish with salt and pepper. This will get the excess water from the fish out and will make it meaty.
  3. Whisk the flour, water, baking powder, lemon juice, salt, pepper and make a batter out of it.
  4. Dust the fish with the flour and dip in the batter. Drip excess batter and fry the fish till golden brown.
  5. Fry the French fry till golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with fish with the choice of dip.
