US presidential candidate Donald Trump has claimed he is a “better person” than his political rivals as the race to pick party nominees hots up.
The remarks by the businessman and former reality TV star came after he exchanged blows with Democratic candidates Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton over a near-riot at one of Trump’s scheduled rallies in Chicago.
The Chicago rally was cancelled due to safety concerns after protesters packed the arena where it was to take place.
During a campaign stop in Florida, Trump said he was superior to his presidential rivals, particularly Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.
He said: “The personality, they don’t love it so much but that’s ok. Who cares? You want to know the truth, I’m a better person than the people I’m running against. I’m a better person than Hillary. Hillary is not good.”
Trump also told voters not to bother voting unless they were picking him.
He said: “It’s very important to vote but only if you’re going to vote for Donald J Trump. Otherwise do not vote if you’re going to vote for somebody else.”
