Frenchman finds 100kg of gold bars and coins in inherited house

A man in France, who inherited a large house from a deceased relative, discovered a treasure trove of gold coins and bars around the house he had just inherited.

According to media reports, the gold, which is worth millions, was extremely well hidden under furniture, linen and in the bathroom.

The Frenchman is said to have found thousands of gold coins and bars weighing 100kg in total which is said to be worth €3.5m.

The gold is said to have been bought in the 1950’s and 1960’s and certificates of authenticity were later found on the estate.

The gold has already been sold on, but depending on whether or not the deceased owner of the gold declared his wealth to the taxman, there could be a 45% inheritance tax on the find.
