Angelina Jolie has pledged to help flood victims

Angelina Jolie has pledged to help a flood hit area of Italy where she and partner Brad Pitt have a home.

Heavy rains have led to severe flooding in the Veneto region of north east Italy with the hardest hit areas being around Vicenza and Verona, close to where Angelina and Brad bought a £25 million holiday home earlier this year, while she was filming The Tourist with Johnny Depp.

The Hollywood star has reportedly offered cash to help the disaster zone, and is willing to appear in fundraising appeals.

Many people have had to abandon their homes and some had to be rescued when trapped by rising waters.

Angelina and Brad’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation also announced a donation of 150,000 dollars to SOS Children’s Villages USA at the weekend.

The donation was given in recognition of National Adoption Day, which celebrates adoptive families and highlights the needs of the over 100,000 children still waiting for adoptive families in the United States.

Through the donation, the Jolie-Pitt Foundation will provide support to an SOS foster care family for a number of years.

Angelina and Brad have three adopted children, nine-year-old son Maddox from Cambodia, six-year-old son Pax from Vietnam and five-year-old Ethiopian daughter Zahara.

They also have three biological children, four-year-old daughter Shiloh and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
