Little Fockers, the third instalment of the Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro in-law comedy series, has topped the US holiday box office taking 30.8 million dollars over the weekend.
The Coen brothers’ True Grit also opened with a better-than-expected 25.6 million dollars over Christmas.
The figures were several million less than weekend estimates, as studios may have had their numbers altered due to the blizzard in the north east of America. Warner Bros, Paramount and Sony still declined to issue a final tally.
The top 20 movies at US and Canadian cinemas, as compiled by Hollywood.com, also included Disney’s Tron: Legacy in its top three. The sequel, starring Jeff Bridges, made 19.15 million dollars.
In fourth place, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader took 9.5 million, while Warner Bros’ Yogi Bear came in fifth with 8.8 million.
