Mars in court over cocaine charge

Bruno Mars has appeared in court in Las Vegas

Bruno Mars has appeared in court on a plea deal that could get him dismissal of a felony cocaine possession charge.

The 25-year-old Grammy nominee and his lawyers appeared before a Las Vegas judge to waive an evidentiary hearing and set a February 14 plea date in state court.

The deal is for Bruno, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, to plead guilty as a first offender in Clark County court to a charge that will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for a year, completes community service and drug counselling, and pays a 2,000 dollar fine.

The Just the Way You Are singer was arrested in September with 2.6 grams of cocaine after a Las Vegas nightclub performance.
