It’s the New Year and the New Me yearly syndrome is back again.
You are back at work, it looks dull and a lot of people just look miserable and not happy to be back at all. Some wish they had longer breaks whilst some just cannot stand the fact that they back at the same place doing the same job they loathe so much.
Or maybe you are one of those that had a wonderful break and had enough time to make an entire list of New Year resolutions for a New You in 2016. You find yourself listing so many bad habits you want to shelve this year and also goals you want to achieve. As you going through your plans, you suddenly realise that they are quite similar to what you had last year and you are just going through the same cycle but with different venues this time.
So this really gets me thinking and wondering if we really need any New Year resolutions.
According to the statistics 65% of the New Year resolutions made always fall out of bed by the end of the third month. By the middle of New Year, those new plans are already ditched and long gone!
People all over the world make all sorts of New Year resolutions at the beginning of the New Year, ranging from life changing decisions like a new marriage to quitting smoking. Most resolutions are usually centred on being a better and healthier person than you were the previous year.
On the top of the list of the most popular New Year resolution is losing weight. With all the over indulging pleasures during the holidays, you find out you have stacked on layers of fat over a short period of time.
January usually begins with several Gym membership offers everywhere with seducing free trials and discounted membership offers.
Fitness centres are flooded with enthusiastic individuals that will hopefully sign up for the year after a few free trials. Over half of these new visitors do not return after 4 weeks, when the ‘New Year New Me’ effect wears off. Many of us have been there too!
Maybe it’s time to take a step back and pause to really ask yourself why you really need a new you.
Is it possible that you are just unhappy and simply wanting to cover this up at the beginning of every year with resolutions that you would not stick to for the entire year?
Change is good especially when it is positive, rather than getting yourself worked up on a tag line that puts you into a regime lifestyle. You should concentrate on doing what makes you happy and as you go along, maintain a healthy lifestyle.
You will find that making this a habit is far better than putting yourself on a regimental programme that would prove ineffective on the long run. This is why you find yourself doing the same things every year and still not making any progress.
Find Happiness
A happy state of mind always brings out a new you. Getting to do more fun things than your regular mundane routine would do wonders. Be spontaneous and get out more, have a little more fun and you will find those stiff muscles relaxing on their own.
Living healthy and regular exercises maintains an overall balanced health.
The key to a New Year new you is happiness, so find it.

Smoking is my main vice and I already broke my resolution weeks ago. It never works for me, so I never bother anymore
