Timothy Olyphant has revealed that Elmore Leonard is not too happy with his character’s wardrobe choices in Justified.
The actor plays US Marshal Raylan Givens in the FX series Justified, who is known for his trademark 10-gallon cowboy hat. Timothy says author Elmore, whose novels inspired the character, is not a fan.
The star said: “He keeps telling me to lose it.”
The actor reckons the TV hat is too Western for Leonard’s taste and notes that the on-screen character dons it much more often than the book version.
As for Tim, he thinks the hat “looks cool”.
There will be more Leonard characters to populate Justified in Season 2, which premieres in the US this week.
The author let the show use material from his upcoming novel about the Marshal, which Timothy says has inspired the show’s new bad guys.
