A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the “unexplained” death of a baby.
Police said the infant was admitted with injuries to the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, Oxfordshire, on November 5.
The child was pronounced dead at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford on Friday evening.
Detective Chief Inspector Joe Kidman, leading the investigation for Thames Valley Police, said: “We are in the early stages of a detailed investigation to establish how this child died.”
A spokesman for the force said that a man and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident and have been bailed pending further inquiries.
He added that no further details of the child or the suspects would be released at this stage because of “identification issues”.
