Plane evacuated after passenger claims to have seen IS messages on man’s phone

An Iraqi man at the centre of a terror scare on an EasyJet flight from Vienna to London has been released without charge.

He was taken off the plane for questioning, moments before take-off, after the woman sat next to him told cabin crew she thought she’d seen messages related to Islamic State on his phone.

The plane ultimately took off three hours later, without the man or woman onboard.

Austrian interior ministry spokesperson confirmed that nothing suspicious had been found and that the man had been allowed to continue his journey.
