The musical legend, reggae superstar, Jimmy Cliff has died at the age of 81.
His family announced on a post to his Instagram page saying: “It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia.
Jimmy Cliff was born instead James in Jamaica in 1944 and had a huge impact on reggae music around the world. He was a rival briefly to the late Bob Marley as one of the most prominent reggae artist earlier on during his career.
Cliff began writing music in Jamaica during the time of Jamaica’s independence and his popular songs including; I Can See Clearly Now and You Can Get It If You Really Want, won two Grammys and he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2010.
His work ranging from music to activism for Jamaica earned him Jamaica’s Order of Merit.
