Anyone with an eye for a bargain might want to watch out for a collection of glass eyes which went on display before their sale.
The Edwardian blown glass eyes, which date from the early 1900s, belong to Fred Nickson and form part of a display of medical and scientific collectors’ items.
“All kinds of people collect glass eyes,” said Mr Nickson, of Chiltern Antiques.
“From schoolboys fascinated by the unusual and macabre, to doctors and dentists wanting early items to display in their waiting rooms to remind patients just how much progress we’ve made in the past 100 years.”
The collection is on display at the annual Westonbirt Antiques and Fine Art Fair in Westonbirt School, Gloucestershire.
