Services held across the world in remembrance of the 9/11 attacks

Commemorations have been held in respect of the victims of the September 11 attacks in 2001.

15 years to the day of the world’s most infamous terrorist attack, which killed nearly 3,000 people, crowds have gathered to pay their respects.

Pictures and roses were left in commemoration at the National September 11 Memorial in New York.

At the ceremony held at the memorial, some were overwhelmed by emotion.

Nearby, in New York’s Yankee Stadium, an American flag was unfurled during a memorial ceremony before the Yankees’ baseball game against Tampa Bay Rays.

While two team-members laid a wreath in Monument Park.

Meanwhile in London wreaths and bunches of flowers were left in Grosvenor Square Garden near the US Embassy.
