Stoke City win at home against Swansea 3-1

Must read

Stoke City take a home win over the Swans 3-1 in Monday Night Football.

Former Swansea player Wilfred Bony found his touch quickly in the first 3 minutes of the game with a quick 6-yard finish off a Stoke corner to take the lead 1-0. But that celebration was shortly lived as Swansea’s Wayne Routeledge equalized just 5 minutes later beating Phil Bardsley from the back post with a cross from Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Stoke began to take the lead again 10 minutes after the half time with a deflection from Alfie Mawson to make it 2-1 Stoke.

The pressure from the Stoke offense was too much for Swansea as Marko Arnautovic played in Joe Allen on the left of the box who saw his original shot saved by Fabianksi before poking the rebound into the path of Bony who headed in his second goal of the game.

Mark Hughes’ men are now five games unbeaten in the league and move up to 12th, while Swansea are winless since the opening day of the season and remain second from bottom.
